Maurice Holt, a discredited doctor, and his sister Stella live in poverty and misery caused by the actions of their half-brother Colin. They plan to murder Colin and start life again in another country. Colin's wife, Iris, is very unhappy with Colin and also plans to eliminate him. Maurice's wife, Janet, is a susceptible woman with emotional problems who finds herself embroiled in the intrigue against her will. Does Colin die? If so who committed the act?
